Kevin Stannley Obituary

Kevin LaMont Stannley of Myrtle Beach passed away on Friday, March 31, 2024.

Kevin Lamont Stanley passed away on Good Friday, March 29, 2024, peacefully in his truck amidst the beautiful garden he tended and cherished. Born on February 5, 1958, in Philadelphia, PA, he was the twelfth child of Rev. Norman Henry Stanley and Louisa (Louise) Hayes Stanley. His parents and siblings preceded him in death: Ellen, Khohilda, Karen, Frankie Lee, Cleo, and Pecolia (Doll), Norman Ernest, Andrew, and Henry Wallace (Button).

Raised in Philadelphia, Kevin received his education in the Philadelphia School System, attending John Greenleaf Whittier and Lehigh Elementary Schools, Thomas FitzSimons Jr. High, and Simon Gratz Sr. High. His passion for Cinematography Lighting, led him to enroll in Columbia College in Hollywood, CA. While there he earned a BS in Cinematography. He married Miss. Vivian Lem Ana, his college sweetheart. Vivian longed to return to the Philippines with her family. Their paths diverged, and they amicably parted ways. Subsequently, Kevin relocated to Loris, SC,

Throughout his life, Kevin wore many hats. He inherited his father's talents in building, gardening, and cooking, assisting in the construction of their home in South Carolina. Kevin had an innate gift for gardening, a "green thumb!" Plants and flowers flourished under his care. He was often sought out for advice on plant care. He successfully grew lemons indoors at his parents' home!

Kevin played a significant role in helping to raise his great-nieces and nephews, endearing himself to them with his unique humor and affectionate banter. Known for his playful phrase, "You idiots, you must be destroyed!" and his greeting, "Am-pa-K-namp" reminiscent of the late Miller Long. Only God knows what it meant!

A devout believer in God and a follower of Jesus Christ, Kevin dedicated his final years to bringing beauty to the world through nature, exemplified by the splendid garden at the home of his dear friend, Jamie Hooks.

While we mourn Kevin's passing, we take solace in knowing that he has found peace in the embrace of Jesus Christ and his heavenly family. He answered God's call gracefully, leaving behind his sister Jessica, his brother Kenneth (Hilda), his Aunt Gracie Stanley, numerous nieces, nephews, dear cousins, friends, and especially the Hooks Family, who join us in celebrating his triumphant transition.

Submitted in great sorrow, The Family of Kevin Lamont Stannley.
