MRS. FLORENCE POWELL-SINGLETON {91} was born June 26, 1926 in Williamsburg County, South Carolina to the late Deacon George Powell and Deaconess Marcena Benbow-Powell. On Wednesday, January 17, 2018 she departed this life at Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan. In February, 1945, she joined hands in Holy Matrimony to the late Willie Singleton, who preceded her in death. To this union seven {7} children were born: Willie Nathaniel Singleton {Ester} of Conway, South Carolina, Laura A. Singleton of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, Glenn Lewis Singleton of Conway, South Carolina, George Wesley Singleton of Tennessee, Matthew Alonzo Singleton, Marcena L. Singleton Jones {Robert} and Ruthena G. Singleton Bromell {Jackie} all of Conway, South Carolina. She raised Georgia Parson-Springfield {Mark} from seven {7} days old. She fostered and was the caregiver of the late David Williams, Jr. for twenty-four {24} years, as well as fostered Billy Weaver as her son. Mrs Florence Powell-Singleton was a graduate of Whittemore High School, Conway, South Carolina and attended South Carolina State College, currently known as South Carolina State University, Orangeburg, South Carolina for two {2} years. She was a past member of the Order of The Golden Eagles. At an early age,  Mrs. Florence Powell-Singleton loved the Lord and accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior. She was a faithful member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church until her health failed. She leaves to cherish loving, and precious memories, two brothers: Thomas Powell of Mobile, Alabama and Arthur Powell {Bernice} of Conway, SC; seven {7} children; three {3} grandchildren, Nathaniel M.W. Singleton {Tonyela} of DeSoto, Texas, Sasha D. Jones of Alexandria, Virginia, and Angel Bashir Bromell of Conway, SC preceded her in death; seven {7} extended grandchildren; one {1} great-grandchild, Sikali Singleton of DeSoto, Texas;twenty-two {22} extended great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, friend; a loyal spiritual church friend/daughter,  Ms. Lytra Mitchell-Wilson of Naples, Florida; a loyal daughter and son by choice, Edna and Ted McNair, Conway, South Carolina and a special friend and caregiver, Mrs. Yolanda Hughes of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. Visitation will be 6:00 – 8:00 PM Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at Ocean View Funeral Home Conway Chapel. Funeral Services will be 3:00 PM Thursday, January 25, 2018 at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. Arrangements are entrusted to Ocean View Funeral Home Conway Chapel.
