MR. SOLOMON McQUEEN
Deacon Solomon McQueen was born on June 11, 1939 in Aynor, South Carolina to the late Alex and Dessie McQueen. He entered into eternal rest on Saturday, July 27, 2019 following an illness.
Deacon McQueen attended school in Aynor, SC. He was united in holy matrimony to Virginia Huffman on July 16, 1959. They were married for 55 years until her death in 2015. To this union four children were born.
Deacon McQueen attended St. Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church in Aynor, SC. He later moved to Paterson, NJ and worked for many years as a supervisor at UCS. Deacon McQueen accepted God as his personal savior and was later ordained as a Deacon at Grace Chapel Baptist Church. After serving many years at Grace Chapel, he migrated to the New Birth Baptist Church where he served as Chairman of the Deacon Board. He was a Deacon for over 50 years before moving back to Aynor, SC in 2016.
Deacon McQueen was well respected and loved by all who came in contact with him. He was a man of God who was humble and loved the Lord.
He was preceded in death by both his parents, his loving wife Virginia H. McQueen, two sons: Benson and John K. McQueen, five brothers: Joseph Myles, Edward McQueen, Robert Ben McQueen, Donald McQueen and Charles McQueen and one sister: Bessie McQueen.
Solomon leaves to cherish his loving and fond memories ~
Two daughters: Vivian Gales (Edward) of Dallas, NC and Violetta McQueen of Paterson, NJ; One brother: William McQueen (Rainey); Two sisters: Winifred Williams and Mary Davis; Laura Myles sister-in-law; Eight grandchildren: Denisha McQueen-Rhodes, Latonya Brown, Crystal Gales, David Royster, Elise Gales, Johnathan McQueen, Edward Gales, Jr. and Kenisha McQueen; Twenty-six great grandchildren; Five Godchildren; Three special sisters-in-law: Sadie Jane Johnson, Marie Bellamy and Maebell Bird; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM (noon) Tuesday, August 6, 2019 at St. Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church, 57 Church St, Aynor, SC 29511. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. The Ocean View Funeral Home of Conway is assisting the McQueen Family.
