MOTHER BERTIE GENEVA ROGERS, {88} was born to the late Sarah Flowers and Nancy Robinson and Lewis Small in Andrews, SC on July 12, 1928. She departed this life on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at Conway Medical Center. She attended the Georgetown and Williamsburg Counties school systems and was a member of Bethel AME Church in Conway, SC. She was also a member of the Mystic Order of Golden Eagles. MOTHER BERTIE was married to the late Jessie J. Rogers on August 10, 1961 and to this union eleven {11} children were born. She retired as a food dietician from Conway Medical Center. Her hobbies included playing the card game Spades and watching her stories. Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by two {2} daughters-in-law, Johnnie Brown and Mary Shields; and one {1} son-in-law, Walter Robinson. MOTHER BERTIE leaves to cherish fond and loving memories eight {8} sons, Benjamin Brown of North Carolina, John Brown of South Carolina, Thomas {Gwendell} Brown of South Carolina, Kenny “Pee Pee” {Doretha} Rogers of Georgia, Gary “Rocky” {Susan Gibbs} Rogers of South Carolina, Jessie “Chipper” {Wanda} Rogers of South Carolina, Gerald “Lucky” {Maxine} Rogers of South Carolina and Nathan “Old Man” {Patricia} Rogers of South Carolina; one {1} stepson, Charles Shields of Georgia; three {3} daughters, Patricia Robinson of South Carolina, Sara {Earl} Bell of Maryland and Debra {Willie} Williams of Maryland; four {4} sisters, Mary McCullum of North Carolina, Patsy {Jerry} Stephen of New York, Shirley Stevens of New York and Ida Mitchell of New York; thirty-eight {38} grandchildren, Artemus Brown, Rodney Brown, Dommenick Brown, Dontrail Brown, Kimberly Brown, Geneva Brown, Sharon Lewis, Michel Fraser, Derrick Fraser, Tony Bell, Terry Bell, Earl Bell, Jr., Rodrick Miles, Kermit Miles, Thomas Johnson, Anthony Johnson, Allesha Johnson, Shakari Johnson, Kenneth Johnson, Tron Davis, Gwen Johnson, Tanisha Rogers, Demetra Rogers, Keneisha Rogers, Bryan Rogers, Jesse Allen, Roger Leggett, Craig Leggett, Kessica Leggett, Prince Huffman, Hope Singleton, Gerald Rogers, Dreek McCray, James David, Shy Rogers, Faron Rogers, Davin Rogers and Ta’Nazia Rogers; fifty-seven {57} great-grandchildren, several great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. A Home Going Celebration was held 1:00 PM on Thursday, September 22, 2016 at Bethel AME Church.
