MRS. LOU MAE BELLAMY

MRS. LOU MAE BELLAMY, {92} daughter of the late James and Corinne Cooper was born September 14, 1924 in Salters, SC. She departed this life early Sunday morning, January 01, 2017 at Brookdale Hospital Medical Center. Lou Mae was the only daughter among six {6} brothers, John, Walker, Bernie, Samuel, James and Theodore who all preceded her in death. She married Mr. David Bellamy in 1948 who preceded her in death. The marriage bore two {2} daughters with the eldest, Brenda Delores preceding her in death in 2014. She graduated from high school in Kingstreet, SC and attended a vocational school in New York after relocation. She developed her love for cooking at an early age with her first job cooking for the local Sheriff. She retired in 1996 from numerous years of service at the City of New York under the Department of General Service. With her religious upbringing, she attended Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Salters, SC. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior which she demonstrated throughout her life. Wherever she resided she found a church home to fellowship at. She continued her Christian training by joining Grace Baptist Church in 1964 under the leadership of Reverend Jacob N. Underwood until 2000. Upon relocation to Wilmington, NC due to an untimely illness, she joined Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Dr. Terry L. HENRY until 2006. She relocated back to New York and rejoined Grace Baptist Church. However, due to some health disabilities she fellowshipped at Pentecostal Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Pastor Aaron Brown until his death and is currently lead by Reverend Timothy Scantlebury as her health permitted. She refused to let her disabilities keep her from worship as she remained steadfast in her faith. Throughout her lifetime she was involved with various organizations within the church. Throughout her life her faith never wavered. She knew and loved the Lord. Over the course of years, she loved cooking for family and friends. It gave her great joy seeing them enjoy her food. She loved her family and friends dearly and would do anything for them if asked. She never met a stranger.  Her family charged with continuing her legacy includes a devoted daughter, Cassandra Bellamy of Brooklyn, NY; devoted grandchildren, James {Tamarrow} Climes of Columbia, SC, Kyle Peterson of Brooklyn, NY and Ariana Bellamy~Harrison of Brooklyn, NY; great~grandchildren, Semaj and Judah Climes of Columbia, SC; last remaining first {1st} cousin, Daisy Cooper of New Jersey; sisters~in~law, Mazie {Jerome} Anderson of Little River, SC and Estelle Scott of Myrtle Beach, SC; brother~in~law, Louis Gore of Myrtle Beach, SC; niece, Jonita Mackall of Prince Fredrick, MD and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held 1:00 ~ 2:00 PM Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at Ocean View Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow at Pine Island Community Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Ocean View Funeral Home and Cremation Services, LLC.
