MRS. CARRIE “BLOSSOM” LOU DOWE~JOHNSON

MRS. CARRIE “BLOSSOM” LOU DOWE~JOHNSON, {80} was born on Monday, August 31, 1936 in Pinewood, SC. She was the fourth {4th} child born to the late Rivers Dowe, Sr. and Essie Mae Dow. She grew up in a warm and loving home and throughout her life she had a close bond with her siblings. “CARRIE” attended Myrtle Beach Colored School. She joined Sandy Grove Missionary Baptist Church at an early age, where she remained a faithful member until her health declined. For many years “CARRIE” served dutifully on the Senior Choir. She was employed at GTE, retiring after fifteen {15} years of service. “CARRIE” served as a member and officer of civic and social organizations. “CARRIE” was a past member of Oceanside order of Eastern Stars #163, past member of the Frank Gravis Gore Assembly Order of Golden Circle #189, and 14th past Commandress of Kabba Court #127. She had a heart of gold and especially loved the young people. She was gifted with an artistic ability in various forms of crafts; she indulged her creative talents with the young girls of the Kabba Court and the community teaching them to sew, crochet and cross stitch. Although most of her days were mainly on the go, she spent her quiet time baking her famous coconut cakes. “CARRIE” was married to the late William F. “Cherokee” Johnson, Sr. From this union five {5} sons and two {2} daughters were born: William {Loretta – deceased}, Lorenzo {Ann Marie}, and Mike, all of Myrtle Beach, SC, Billy Ray {Jocelyn} of Conway, SC, Larry {Renee} of Columbia, SC, Gail of Myrtle Beach, SC and Pauline Austin {Morris} of Columbia, SC. A Christian home filled with love was established.
“CARRIE” is preceded in death by three {3} brothers and three {3} sisters. She has one {1}loving brother, Rivers Dowe, Jr. {Dee} and a loving sister, Susie Dowe. She also leaves to cherish her memory twenty-one {21} grandchildren, fourteen {14} great-grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews and a special friend Pecolia Johnson.”CARRIE” loved God, church, family and her pastor. She was a very talented woman who will be remembered as a kind, hard-working, and loving mother. Visitation will be held 6:00 ~ 8:00 PM Thursday, August 31, 2017 at Williams Memorial Chapel. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, September 01, 2017 at Sandy Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Arrangements are entrusted to Ocean View Funeral Homes Williams Memorial  Chapel of Myrtle Beach.
