MR. WILLIAM M. RICHARDSON, SR.

MR. WILLIAM M. RICHARDSON, SR. {77} affectionately known as Round Head, Papa Smurf, Jonas, Jinx, Mr. Bill, Bubba, and Mr. Willie, was born on July 22, 1939 and took his rest and transitioned to his reward in heaven on Sunday, May 21, 2017. “WILLIAM”  began his relationship with the Lord at the oldest black church of Montgomery, AL {1st Baptist Church of Montgomery, AL under the leadership of Reverend Ralph Abernathy, the leader of the Civil Rights Movement. “WILLIAM” was the youngest son of the late Gus Henry Richardson and Ethel Mae Pickett. He was also preceded in death by his son, James Eric Richardson in January 1967.
“WILLIAM” graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in Montgomery, AL and Winorah State Technical School for cooking and baking. He married the love of his life, the former Betty L. Poole of West Blocton, AL on June 01, 1963. In 1967, they moved to Myrtle Beach, SC and he began his career. He was employed throughout Myrtle Beach: AVX, International House of Pancake, The Caravelle, Wachesaw Plantation and Magnolia’s Assisted Living until his health failed him in October 2014. “WILLIAM” leaves a lifetime of memories to his devoted wife of fifty~three {53} years, Betty Poole Richardson; his daughters, Nadine “Jackie” {Kenneth} Ellis, of Montgomery, AL and Daphne Renee’ {Danthan} Chestnut of Conway, SC; his son, William M. {Ingrid} Richardson, Jr. of Myrtle Beach, SC; a brother, Gus Henry Richardson, II of Detroit, MI. “WILLIAM” left two {2} cousins, Anna Lois Jackson of Detroit, MI and Ronnie “Cadillac” {Donna} Graves of Myrtle Beach, SC; mother~in~law, Willie Ann Poole of West Blocton, AL, and in-laws Reverend Mose {Earline} Poole, Jr. of Birmingham, AL, Eula Johnson of Birmingham, AL, Kennis {Gail} Poole of West Blocton, AL, Philip {Iona} Poole of Powder Springs, GA, Ollie Mae Lee of Centerville, AL, Myra {Tyrone} Childs of Birmingham, AL, Paul {Sharon} Poole of Dallas, GA, Demetrius {Henrietta} Poole of Birmingham, AL and Irma {Roger} Rose of Leeds, AL; grandchildren, Kameeche {DeMarius} Ingram, Andre’ {Stacey} Tyson, Thor Smith, Kandis Buie, Foster Davis, Malcolm Richardson, Dy’nesha Davis, Brandon Richardson and Corien Daphne Richardson; great~grands, Nadia, Natiiya, Donte’, Isaiah, Logan, Nolan, Joden, DeVonte, Neelah and Jeremiah of the home; very special friends and neighbor Ronnie Sherman and Nancy Austin. “His road dogs were Danthan, Jerwon, Kenny, Jim and Rico, the road has not been the same since.” “WILLIAM” joined Sandy Grove Missionary Baptist Church under the stewardship of Reverend S. V. Riggins and had been a door keeper under Reverend Fred Johnson for many years. He was a Past Master Oceanview Lodge #325; Past CIC of John O. Floyd #189 w/33° and Past ILL Potentate of Kaaba #89. “WILLIAM” enjoyed golfing which earned him the nickname of Jinx. He loved to fish off the pier and spend time with his main boy,  Jeremiah. He never met anyone that was a stranger and would always make you laugh. He was also an honorary member of the Good Time Social Club. Visitation will be held 6:00 ~ 8:00 PM Thursday, May 25, 2017 at Ocean View Memorial Chapel. Funeral Services will be held 12:00 {NOON} Friday, May 26, 2017 at Sandy Grove Missionary Baptist Church.  Arrangements  are entrusted to Ocean View Funeral Home and Cremation Services, LLC.
