MR. DERRICK MOORE

MR. DERRICK MOORE, (41) of Socastee, SC “To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.” Ecclesiastes 3:1 A Time To Be Born: Derrick Jermaine Moore was born to Alma Moore and Charles F. Phillips on August 20, 1972 at Oceanview Memorial Hospital, Myrtle Beach, SC. He passed Thursday, May 29, 2014. A TIME OF SPIRITUAL GROWTH: Although Derrick began his Christian walk as a young child at Salem AME Church, Bucksport, SC; it was under the spiritual guidance of Rev. Donnie McBride that he truly developed a personal relationship with Christ. A TIME TO BUILD UP: Derrick’s early educational development took place at South Conway Elementary School, Conway, SC and he was a 1991 graduate of Socastee High School, Myrtle Beach, SC. He later matriculated to and attended South Carolina State University. Derrick began his work experience at WBTW 13 Television Station as a Cameraman. Over the years he held several positions including that of Store Manager at a major, local furniture store. However, Derrick always had an eye toward Entrepreneurial-ship. His most recent position was that of a Truck Driver for Coastal Ice Company, Conway, SC. A TIME TO LAUGH AND A TIME TO DANCE: Derrick loved music particularly serving as a DJ and “break-dancing.” He also enjoyed playing basketball and traveling. However, his true passion was helping others. A TIME TO MOURN: He leaves to cherish his memory and continue his legacy, his only son, Dante Jermaine Moore; his mother, Alma Jenkins; his father, Marion Jenkins and his biological father, Charles F. Phillips; seven (7) aunts, Beatrice Moore of Bucksport, SC Fannie Moore of Springfield, MA, Frances Moore of Springfield, MA, Doris Duncan of Springfield, MA, Peggy (George) Johnson of Bucksport, SC Nora Smith of Columbia, SC and Mary Wilson of Spartanburg, SC; six (6) uncles, George Moore of Washington, DC, Ezekiel Moore of Bucksport, SC, Odell (Mae Dell) Moore of Bucksport, SC, Harold (Geneva) Phillips of Bucksport, SC Larry Moore of Palmer, MA and William (Ethel) Jenkins of Newberry, SC; one (1) great-uncle, Lee Moore of Bucksport, SC; his big brother, Oliver (Jennifer) Moore of East Longmeadow, MA; his adoptive brother, Eric (Tiyiana) Jordan of Loris, SC and a host of cousins, friends and of course his posse, Kevin Chestnut, Keith Chestnut, RaShaun Douglas and Leroy Anderson. Visitation will be held 6:00 – 8:00 PM Tuesday, June 03, 2014 at Ocean View Memorial Chapel. Funeral Service will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, June 04, 2014 at Salem AME Church in Bucksport, SC. Internment will follow in the Church Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Ocean View Funeral Home and Cremation Service, LLC.
