MOTHER BETTY “JEAN” GORE, {75} “For I am now ready to be offered up and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith; henceforth, there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day and not to me only but unto all them that love his appearing.” II Timothy 4:6~8 MOTHER BETTY JEAN GORE was born on June 07, 1941 to the late Robert and Thelma Hickman in Lake View, SC. In 1962, “JEAN” as she was affectionately known, moved to Myrtle Beach, SC with her sister Teresa “Tea” to be the caretaker for her nieces and nephews while Tea worked at Friendly’s Barber Shop. Also, during this time she met and married Ernest J. Gore, to this union there were five {5} children born. Her son, Scooter, daughter, Gwen, grandson, Atu Jr., six {6} brothers and three {3} sisters preceded her in death. Mother Jean was a hard worker with various jobs to include: The Vacuum Cleaner Shop on 3rd Avenue in Myrtle Beach, SC, Bob’s Grill ~ a family owned and operated business located on Carver Street, Myrtle Beach, SC where she was famous for all her titles, and manager in the shoe department at Rose’s in North Myrtle Beach, SC where she met numerous people whom she loved and they loved her. JEAN.” Everyone knew “MRS. JEAN” and ” MRS. JEAN” knew everyone. She worked for both places for a total of seventeen {17} years. Talking was her speciality, so she really enjoyed working and talking to people at all of her places of employment. MOTHER JEAN” found out that God is real and she found Him for herself. She was baptized and became a member of St. Mary Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Woodrow Jones; Pastor of the “little church” in Pine Island community of Myrtle Beach, SC. She maintained the sanctuary every Saturday morning until she was no longer able. “MOTHER JEAN” loved her church and her church family. We will cherish the years with her and she will forever be our queen. The times we spent with her are priceless. The many Friday night meals, the laughs, the times she was extremely honest will all be cherished and unforgettable. “MOTHER JEAN” always had an open door where everyone was welcomed, because she never met a stranger. She always told her family “when someone comes in your house, you treat them with kindness.” She was always REAL, if you asked for her opinion, you best believe she gave it to you ” truthfully” but with love. She had some biological grandchildren, but she was known as the Community’s Grandma. She leaves to cherish her memories three {3} daughters, Thedie {Tony Sr.} Smith of Fayetteville, NC, Tammy {Atu Sr.} Williams of Conway, SC and Tonya Gore of Myrtle Beach, SC.; three {3} sisters, Teresa { Grant} Bennett of Orlando, FL, Beatrice Baines of Philadelphia, PA and Mable Martin of Nichols, SC; one {1} nephew raised like her brother, Wendell {Rose} Hickman of Spartenburg, SC; six {6} grandchildren, Tony Jr., Sherika, Bianca, Novien, Chad and James Jr.; {7} great~grandchildren, Xavier, Amare, Zymere, Haidyn, Kyla, Karmin and Mia; one {1} brother~in~law, David {Mary} Gore of Chicago, IL; one {1} sister~in~law, Nina Gore of Myrtle Beach, SC and a host of loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. The family will receive friends at 906 Canal Street Myrtle Beach, SC.
