DEACONESS LILLIAN MARIE WILLIAMS

DEACONESS LILLIAN MARIE WILLIAMS, {79} the youngest of four {4} children was born on March 01, 1938 to the late Lonnie and Henley Lois Williams in Conway, SC. Growing up during the Great Depression and World War II was difficult, but “LILLIAN” obtained an education and graduated from Whittemore High School. She went on to attend Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, NC for two {2} years. In 1958, “LILLIAN” married Ralph A. Williams and the couple moved to Philadelphia, PA. While there, “LILLIAN” worked for Sears and Roebuck as a Credit Investigator. In 1972, “LILLIAN” and her husband returned to Conway where they raised two {2} sons, Gregory A. Williams, whom she considered a loving and devoted son, Randolph A. Williams. Unfortunately, “Randy Man” preceded her to heaven in 1991. “LILLIAN” joined the Cherry Hill Missionary Baptist Church at the age of twelve {12} and was a devoted member for many years. She was extremely active in the church mission, “to develop disciples for Christ.” She served as a Junior Usher, Choir Member, Church Clerk, and an ordained Deaconess. “DEACON WILLIAMS ‘ was member of the Idealistic Club where she served as President and Treasurer. She was active in the local branch of the NAACP having served as Secretary for eleven {11} years and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Vocationally, “LILLIAN” worked in the Horry County School System where she retired in 1999 after twenty-five {25} years of dedicated service. “LILLIAN” loved her family and friends and loved to cook for them. Everyone will miss her famous stuffing and nut raisin pound cake. Most of all, we will miss her warm smile and kind heart. When called upon, she was always willing to serve. Preceding her on their journey to heaven, in addition to her mother and father, was a son,, Randolph A. Williams; siblings, Lonnie “Jackie” Williams, Dorothy Peggy, and James E. Banta. “LILLIAN” leaves a legacy of service to her family, church and community. She leaves behind her husband of fifty-nine {59} years, Deacon Ralph A. Williams; son, Gregory A. Williams, Barbara Cheyenne, whom she considered a very loving and caring daughter-in-law of Durham, NC; a very special granddaughter, Tia M. Williams of Durham, NC; a precious great-grandson, Alexander; a very special cousin who was like a sister, Deloris “Gyp” Swearington who resides in Philadelphia, PA and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. We would like to mention Diane Floyd, Steve Brown and Frankie Clark who were also very special “LILLIAN.” Visitation will be held 6:00 ~ 8:00 PM Friday, August 04, 2017 at Ocean View Funeral Homes Rhue’s Chapel. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, August 05, 2017 at Cherry Hill Missionary Baptist Church. Arrangements are entrusted to Ocean View Funeral Homes Rhue’s Memorial Chapel of Conway.
