MRS. JEANETTE MARIE DAVIS-MITCHELL, {77} “Then they said to him, “Please inquire of God to learn whether our journey will be successful.”  The priest answered them, “Go in peace, your journey has the LORD’s approval.” Judges 18:5-6

My life is my journey with God. It may be hard sometimes but I am assured it would be worth it all. The only impossible journey is the one you never begin.

On July 30, 1941 God blessed the earth with beautiful image of himself and the late Mr. Benjamin F. Davis and the late Mrs. Ida Bell Graham–Davis named her Jeanette Marie Davis. God saw her getting tired and whispered, “Welcome Home” as she transitioned from this earthly tabernacle into the heavenly portals of Glory at 3:28 in the afternoon on Tuesday, March 19, 2019.

Jeanette was a 1959 graduate of Whittemore High School. She met and married Reginald “Reggie” Mitchell and they were blessed with one (1) son. She became employed at AVX and retired after 40 plus years of service. After retirement, she became employed at Liberty Gas Station, and Roses as a cashier.

Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin F. Davis and Ida Bell Graham-Davis; her husband, Reginald “Reggie” Mitchell; her only daughter, Velma Trena Davis, her sister, Leona Avant, and her brother who passed in childbirth.

Jeanette was a loving and caring soul that lived life to the fullest, but learned that life without Christ is not worth living. She accepted Jesus Christ in her life and never waivered in her faith. Her love for God drew her to join Cherry Hill Missionary Baptist Church. She worked diligently as a steward entrusted by God to complete the good work He had begun in her. She faithfully served on the Senior Choir, Nursery Ministry, Senior Adult Sunday School Class, New Members Promise Books Distributor, and was awarded the Golden 50 Years Member Certificate of Loyalty from her church.

Jeanette leaves lasting memories to her devoted daughter and son-in-law (her caregivers) Reverend Dorothy & Reverend Woodrow Jones; her son, Benjamin “Juan’” Mitchell and his wife, Kim; her grandson raised in the home, Larry “Surron” Davis; her granddaughter raised as her daughter, Tee’Chienna “Tee” Davis; her sister, Betty Bey and her special nieces, Brenda Williams and Mary Avant-Baldwin: one (1) grand-daughter; Unique Watson; eight (8) great- grandchildren, Imani Johnson, Karmi Davis, Zari Davis, Kham “Killer” Davis, LeLe Davis, Easton Davis, Kelis Davis-, Londyn Ponds; special nephew, Bernard Dewitt; special neighbors & friends, Darnell and Nettie Eaddy; and an abundance of loving nieces, nephews, adopted children, cousins and friends whom she loved dearly.

Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Tuesday, March 26, 2019 at Cherry Hill Baptist Church in Conway.  The family will receive friends Monday, March 25, 2019 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Ocean View Funeral Home, Conway Chapel.  Arrangements are entrusted to Ocean View Funeral Home Conway Chapel.
