REVEREND EMILY YOUNG~HOWARD, {72} widely known as “EMILY LEE” was a Woman of God for these times. Her life and works have added another page in the ledger of Pentecostal Holiness. On March 23, 1945 Robert Lee Vaner and Charity E. Young Sr. was blessed with a lovely baby girl. “ELDER HOWARD” was divinely summoned from earthly toil to eternal rest on Tuesday, April 04, 2017 at Grand Strand Medical Center. Her life span was seventy~two {72} years and eleven {11} days. “ELDER HOWARD” was educated at Whittemore High School. She was nurtured in a Christian environment and her winning personality served as a guiding light to her success. She was preceded in death by two {2} brothers and two {2} sisters. She attended Sandy Grove Missionary Baptist Church of Myrtle Beach, SC. She confessed Christ in the beauty of Holiness and glorious baptized in the Holy Ghost and Fire, and was fellowship into the membership of Shield Chapel Fire Baptized Holiness Church of God of the America under the leadership of the late Mother Laura Mae Nichols. At this time, she professed to be a vessel used by the Lord and she dedicated all her energies toward fulfilling this commitment. Like Jesus, she increased in wisdom and knowledge and went about doing good. “ELDER HOWARD” was called to the ministry Mother’s Day 1974 and preacher her first sermon: “Lord Why Can’t I Live Right.” During her inceptive evangelistic years, she conducted many revivals, and caused many to be saved and added to the Church. In 1963,  she was married to the late Mr. Philip Howard, and they had one {1} son, Mr. Herbert Lee Young Sr. “ELDER HOWARD” was a unique Woman of God in her own way. She was Saved, Sanctified, Holy Ghost filled and Fire Baptized until her death. She was straightforward, Holy and a no nonsense person; great preacher and a phenomenal leader. “ELDER HOWARD” was one of the founding members of The Sounds of Praise Pentecostal Fellowship Ministries Inc., one of the founding members of the Greater True Light Sound of Praise in Myrtle Beach, SC. In August 1998, “ELDER HOWARD” founded the Emmanuel Sounds of Praise, Shallotte, NC with one {1} member, her brother James {Jimmie}Young. “ELDER HOWARD” served under many Pastors. Mother Laura Mae Nichols, Pastor Richard Thompson, Mother Mary Nesbit, Pastor Pamela Elliott, Bishop JD Means, Apostle Michael Brown, and Bishop Alfred E Williams. “ELDER HOWARD” served as Presiding Elder, Pastor, Chairlady of the Ordination Committee, a member of the Finance Board of the Sounds of Praise. None of us will fully know the countless years of hard work, traveling and deep personal sacrifices she made to bring about her progress record. People in all walks of life have been given the opportunity to share the vision, share the hope and share the victory. “ELDER HOWARD” last sermon was entitled: “Standing Before the King.” Last Tuesday, April 04, 2017  God gave her his Divine citation, “Well done thou good and faithful servant. Thou has been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over manty things. Enter thou in the joys of the Lord.” Her silent good -bye is – “May the work I’ve done, speak for me.” Our lives have been forever changed because we lived in the presence of one of God’s choicest gifts. For this we say, “Thank you Lord. “ELDER EMILY Y. HOWARD” leaves to cherish her memory and to anticipate a glorious reunion, one {1} son, Herbert Lee Young Sr. {Evelyn}; five {5} grandchildren, Andrew, Herbert Jr., Mario, Marquette, and Elder Kelvin Howard; five {5} great~grandchildren, Aryanna Olivia, Joseph, Isaiah, Jamie’s, and Christopher; three brothers, Robert L Young Jr., James W. Young {Mary} and Artie Odom;  five {5} sisters, Vernell Chestnut Alston {Brunice}, Queen Y. Bowens {Prince}, Geraldine Haskell {Cecil}, Rena Bragg {Louis}, and Geraldine Odom; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends; spiritual children of the Greater True Light, Emmanuel, and the Sounds of Praise church family whom she loved. Visitation will be held 6:00 ~ 8:00 PM Monday, April 10, 2017 at True Light Sounds of Praise. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at Sandy Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Arrangements are entrusted to Ocean View Funeral Home and Cremation, LLC.
