MRS. BARBARA MCKNIGHT

MRS. BARBARA ANN GIBBS-MCKNIGHT {55} the daughter of Eula Mae Smalls Gibbs and the late Phillip M. Gibbs, Sr. was born on October 7, 1962 in Fayetteville, NC.

Barbara attended Fayetteville City schools until the family moved to Burgess, SC in 1977 where she attended and graduated from Socastee High School in 1980.

A son, Damien R. Gibbs and a sister, Cynthia M. Gibbs preceded her in death.

Barbara always carried a “Smile” and had a “Lively” personality. She never met a stranger. She carried that infectious smile and personality to work daily as she was the “Cashier Ambassador” for Wal-Mart for over fifteen {15} years; she greeted everyone with a smile and a warm reception. Many of the employees and the customers looked for her smile daily. They would say that Barbara made sure that you saw and heard her at Wal-Mart.

Barbara was in route to Wal-Mart on last Thursday morning, but ended up in Grand Strand Regional Medical Center where she fought a serious and sudden illness which did not allow her to say “Good-bye” to her devoted children: Kelvin {Heidi} Gibbs, Eureka Gibbs {Maurice} and Makisha McKnight {Joe}, all of Myrtle Beach, SC; her grandchildren which were the “Joy” of her life: Navaisja, Paul, Kobe, Shirley, Shakeema, Kyro and Dasani, all of Myrtle Beach, SC. Also missing her is her devoted mother: Eula M. Gibbs; sisters: Evangelist Anne Shubrick of Georgetown, SC, Veronica McNeil of Fayetteville, NC and Connie Rutledge {Wesley}; her brother: Phillip M. Gibbs {Ester}, both of Myrtle Beach, SC; aunts: Florence Strong of Burgess, SC and Bertha R. Smith of Georgia; four nieces: Camara and Quiera Gibbs, and Jamayah and Kendra Bellamy; two nephews: Jason {Sheree} Rutledge and Rodriguez Gibbs {Regina} along with one former sister-in-law and one brother-in-law. She also leaves many sorrowful friends, cousins, Wal-Mart associates and childhood friends from Fayetteville, NC. The names of all of these individuals are too many to name, you know who you are and how important you were to “Barbara.”

Visitation will be held 6:00 – 8:00 PM Sunday, November 12, 2017 at Ocean View Funeral Home Myrtle Beach Chapel. Funeral Services will be held 1:00 PM Monday, November 13, 2017 at Salem Missionary Baptist Church. Arrangements are entrusted to Ocean View Funeral Home Myrtle Beach Chapel.
