DEACON WILLIE GREEN, {83} son of the late Elnora Green and Flagg Williams was born October 7th, 1935  in Bucksport, SC. God called him home on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 after an illness. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of fifty-two {52} years, Frances Green and two {2} sons, James and Rodney Green.

Deacon Green was a graduate of Whittemore High School.  Upon graduation, he immediately enlisted in the United States Navy serving his Country faithfully for twenty-one {21} years. After retiring from the United States Navy he returned to civilian life, and became employed at Grove Manufacturing Company completing twenty {20} years of service before retiring.

Deacon Green loved sports and this love led him to start and coach the first softball teams for young women and men of the Bucksport Community. He named the teams Bucksport Angels and Bucksport Devils. After starting the teams, he became an advocate for the first softball field developed in the community.

Deacon Green confessed his belief in Christ and dedicated his life to serving the Lord fervently and vigorously. He joined Mt Moriah Missionary Baptist Church and faithfully served twenty-two {22} years. He rendered his service as a Trustee and as an Usher before becoming an Ordained Deacon. He loved his church and was always on a move for the Lord. He was also an active member of the Masonic Lodge.

Deacon Green leaves to cherish his memories his nine {9} children, Brenda {Glenn} Avant, Willie  {Carol} Green, Jr., Julia {Margarito} Molina, Leon Green, Jerome Green, Nicole Green, Stacey Green, Tracey {Carolina} Green and Lewellyn {Patricia} Sherman; two {2} sisters, Fronnie {Hughie} Pino and Linda New; thirty-two {32} grandchildren; forty-seven {47} great-grandchildren; one {1} great-great-grandchild; special friends, Minister Elouise Calloway and Terrance Green; caregiver, Caleatha Richardson and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday, March 23, 2019 at Mt. Moriah Missionary Church in Bucksport. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday at Ocean View Funeral Home, Conway Chapel.  Arrangements are entrusted to Ocean View Funeral Home Conway Chapel.



  • I’m so sorry to learn of the death of your love one. My sympathies go to you all. Mr. Willie was a true man of God. He will truly be missed. A pillar of his church and community. His work on this side was done and to me he did it well. Rest in peace Mr. Willie.
