MR. SHERWIN “WAYNE” LAWERENCE GOLSON, {61} “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.” II Timothy 4:7

Our beloved son, husband, brother, father, grandfather, nephew, uncle, cousin, in~law, and friend SHERWIN LAWERENCE GOLSON,  affectionately known as “WAYNE” was born August 01, 1955 at Conway Hospital in Conway, SC to Mrs. Lee Folia Simmons. On Wednesday, February 01, 2017 “WAYNE” transitioned from his earthly labor to obtain his reward in Heaven.  “WAYNE” attended Myrtle Beach public schools and relocated to Yonkers, NY where he attended Community College and later Southern Illinois University. “WAYNE” began his music career under tutelage of his mother and brother James “Busta” Golson at Community Memorial CME Church in Yonkers, NY. After relocating back to Myrtle Beach, SC “WAYNE” returned to his home church at Mt. Olive AME  Church where he again served as Minister of Music playing, singing and providing the Word of God through music for for over forty {40} years, until his health failed. He also served as Minister of Music at Hemingway Chapel AME Church in Conway, SC playing and singing the Word of God through music and songs. During his earlier age “WAYNE” worked various jobs. He was last employed at Sands Ocean Club. On December 07, 1985,  “WAYNE” was joined in Holy Matrimony to Cynthia Wilds. “WAYNE” enjoyed many hobbies which included cooking, fishing, crabbing, clamming and golfing with friends and family. {Donnell Bellamy, Ernest Cooper and Isaiah Simmons} He also enjoyed watching his favorite team ~ THE DALLAS COWBOYS. “WAYNE” leaves to cherish his memory his wife of thirty~one {31} years, Cynthia; three {3} sons, Toriano Watts {Shavon} of Myrtle Beach, SC, Edwin Golson of Charlotte, NC and Everett Golson of Hamilton, Ontario; three {3} grandchildren, Tanasia, Rashaun and Royal Watts all of Myrtle Beach, SC; one {1} brother, James “Busta” Golson {Gail} of Yonkers, NY;  one {1} brother~in~law, Henry Wilds of Myrtle Beach, SC; three sisters~in~law, Peggy Wilds of Plainfield, NJ, Beatrice Brown and Terry Wilds both of Myrtle Beach, SC; a special niece, Dionne Golson and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Visitation will be held 6:00 ~ 8:00 PM Tuesday, February 07, 2017 at Ocean View Memorial Chapel. Funeral Services will be held 1:00 PM Wednesday, February 08, 2017 at Mt Olive AME Church.  Arrangements are entrusted to Ocean View Funeral Home and Cremation Services, LLC.
