MR. PERRY I. WALKER
MR. PERRY I. WALKER, (60) of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, went home to be with the Lord at 9:29 pm, on Saturday January 24, 2015 at Conway Medical Center in Conway, SC following a brief illness. He was born September 3, 1954 to the late Rev. Charles and Rosa Lee Walker. The 8th(eighth)child of 15 (fifteen)children. Perry was quiet and soft spoken. He loved reading and exploring the world through books and magazines. In his early teenage years he loved spoofing his family. On one particular occasion, in the woods of upstate NY on a warm summer night, our brother Perry transformed himself to Big Foot. He was in full costume, with all the bells and whistles. The noises coming from his mouth and feet frightened us to the point that we cleared the room, bumping into each other, and jumping over items in our way out the lodge. He actually had to tell us it was him. Wow, we wanted to beat him up that night. Perry was educated in the NYC school system and attended Brooklyn College. This gentle giant’s career, although short lived, covered several supervisory and administrative positions at: UPS, Budget, and Jamaica Hospital. It was here at Jamaica Hospital where Perry became disabled and had to resign his position as Registrar. Perry loved the Lord, his beautiful children, family, and preparing exotic meals. He knew how to make a dish“pop”. He endeared his family to himself with his delicious dishes & other appetizer she prepared at our family Thanksgivings. His creative approach to preparing food would rival the best chef’s. Perry accepted the Lord Jesus Christ early on in his life. He was a member of his dad’s church, St. John’s Baptist Jamaica, NY. After his father’s death he joined St. Albanys Baptist Church where he was in charge of the Kitchen Ministry. He was a current member of Bethel Tabernacle, Jamaica, NY until he relocated in November to Myrtle Beach, SC. He was thrilled to move to Myrtle Beach, SC with his sister Lee and brother-in-law Julius. The move brought him closer to his beloved children. They gave him a beautiful apartment near their unit, and was in the midst of furnishing it for him, because Perry was legally blind. On November 16, 2014 when he arrived in Myrtle Beach, SC it was a happy day for him. It was his only conversation at our recent Walker Thanksgiving Reunion as he invited everyone to come to Myrtle Beach, SC. He looked forward to spending time with his children in his new city after Julius took him on a tour of the beach. Perry stood on the beach and quoted the words of Martin Luther King…“I have seen the mountaintop.” He leaves to cherish his memories his children Courtney Nicole Walker, Perry Luke Walker Jr., Lindsey Danielle Walker, and Chelsey Shannon Walker; his nine (9) brothers, James Walker, VA, Elijah Walker, MD, John Walker, NJ, Paul Walker, CA Matthew Walker, VA, Jeremiah Walker, NY, Benjamin Walker, NC, Daniel Walker, NY, Nathaniel Walker, SC; his four (4) sisters, Gwendolyn Parker, GA, Audrey Bennett, VA, Olevia Campbell, SC, Eve Harris, TX; his brother-in-laws, Julius Campbell, Johnny Parker, Ronald Harris; his sister-in-laws, Sidney Walker, Wanda Walker, Josefa Walker, Jayne Walker, Karen Walker, Pamela S Walker; his aunt Mag, (Nor a Bailey) of NY, Aunt Mary Showers of MS, Aunt Eunice Gibson of CA, and a host of other aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
