MR. JAMES LEE COKER, {94}  was born in Latta, SC to the late Mr. George and Mary Coker on June 18, 1925. Mr. Coker was raised in a God-fearing home and gave his life to the Lord at an early age. He was also a devoted member of Shield’s Chapel F.B.H Church in Myrtle Beach, SC.

Coker, as he was known to family and friends was called home to be with his Father on Friday, November 16th, 2018, in the home of his son, Robert Lee in Myrtle Beach, SC.

Coker was the second of two {2} children. He attended school and graduated from the Latta School District. Following high school, Coker was enlisted in the United States Navy where he served honorably for two {2} years during World War, II. After his enlistment, he was employed by the Horry County School District where he served and retired proudly after thirty {30} years of service as a Janitor. Following his retirement from the school district, he became the proud Owner and Operator of Coker Cabs in Myrtle Beach for twenty {20+} plus years.

Coker was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Coker and father, George Coker; a sister, Alice Coker McCoy; his devoted and loving wife of over fifty {50} years, Sarah Mason Coker, and his stepson, Andrew Mason, Sr.

Coker leaves to cherish his fond memories sons, Ronnie Williams of Myrtle Beach, SC; Robert Lee {Dee} Williams of Myrtle Beach, SC, Jeffrey Lee Holloman of Myrtle Beach, SC; an adopted son,  Anthony {Linda} Wallace of Myrtle Beach, SC; daughter, Tara {Chris} Campbell of Myrtle Beach, SC; a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren; a niece, Mary Alice Meyers and many other loving relatives and caring friends, all of whom will miss him dearly.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, 1:00 PM Saturday, November 24, 2018 at Shields Chapel Fire Baptized Holiness Church in Myrtle Beach, SC.  The family will receive friends Friday, November 23, 2018 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Ocean View Funeral Home, 1212 Carver Street, Myrtle Beach, SC. Arrangements are entrusted to Ocean View Funeral Home Myrtle Beach Chapel.

  • Wishing the family the very best at this hour of sorrow and trying times,Mr Coker will be I personally look back at the days of driving and working for Mr Coker in one of cabs,I learned a lot from him ,he was always straight forward and to the point,while with a,smile.,remembering the kings days and nights mr.charles,Wilbert and Dennis and myself would talk to Mr Coker we was not driving he would joke and laugh with us and we thought a lot of him enough to call him friend..and what a friend he was….so my friend u went the journey ,u kept your faith and now u at home reaping your long and just reward with the father,and I’m so happy for you right now,as we all will follow your path one day and we meet again rest in loving peace to a kind grateful caring man,whom I’ve had the pleasure to call…friend
