MR. HERMAN WEST, JR.

MR. HERMAN WEST, JR. (56) went to be with the Lord peacefully on Friday, December 29, 2017 at the age of fifty-six (56).

Herman also known as”Bubby” was born July 10, 1961 one of six (6) children to Herman West, Sr. and Marcelina Arca West in Baltimore, MD. Herman was a graduate of Forest Park High School in 1981 who continued his education at the Community College of Baltimore.

Following his dream in 1987, he became employed with and attended Baltimore City Police Academy in 1988. Upon completion of the police academy, he was assigned as a patrol officer. After three (3) years of service he was promoted to Maryland State Police Criminal Investigation Division Task Force as Detective 1st Class assigned to Major Crime Unit. In 2001, he was promoted to Senior Detective Sargent of the Criminal Investigation Division and Executive Protection Unit for Presidential, Government and City Officials. Through his twenty-one (21) years of service he was recognized to receive training in Executive Protection, Criminal Investigation, Internal Investigations, Drug Investigations and Interdiction, Gang Investigations, Warrants/Affidavit, Assets and Forfeitures, and as a Certified Training Instructor. His knowledge and training led him to his last working position as Deputy Chief of Police.

Bubby was the beloved husband of Lisa West for twenty-one (29) years.

He enjoyed fishing, going out to eat at different restaurants, traveling, playing cards and most of all being with his family. He founded Team Hooken Fishing Club and hosted annual fishing tournaments.

Bubby touched the lives of many people and kept his trademark “sense of humor” all the way to the end. He was a consistent giver who reached out to families less fortunate by providing bags of food and/or money.

Visitation will be held 6:00 — 8:00 PM Friday, January 05, 2018 at Ocean View Funeral Home Myrtle Beach Chapel. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, January 06, 2018 at Chesterfield Missionary Baptist Church. Arrangements are entrusted to Ocean View Funeral Home Myrtle Beach Chapel.
