MR. ANTHONY RONALD McGRIFF

MR. ANTHONY RONALD McGriff, {72} was born August 22, 1946 to Roland and Marie McGriff in Fort Lauderdale, FL. He was preceded in death by both of his parents.

Tony, as we always called him, grew up in Baltimore, MD and stayed  there most of his young adult life. He later moved to California, Myrtle Beach, SC and Georgetown, SC. 

Tony graduated from Douglass High School and attended Bay College where he studied Culinary Arts. A skill he used throughout his life. He was a great cook. Throughout Tony’s young adult life, he was often the life of the party. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family. He loved all music but especially old school music. He was a great dancer, chess player, pool and card player.

Tony met his first love Phyllis Martin during this time and out of that love came two {2} lovely girls, Latonya McGriff and Dena Marie McGriff. He also had another daughter, Maria McGriff.

Tony adored his girls and was a loyal and loving family man!!!

Tony started experiencing mental illness in his early thirties {30’s}. He struggled to maintain himself and keep communication with his family. His family loved him through his illness and with commitment. They took care of him and kept him stable as possible, however on Friday, June 13, 2019 at 11:00 pm, God hoovered over him and reached out to welcome him home.

Tony is survived by his three {3} daughters, Latonya, Dena and Maria; a host of grandchildren who adore him; his caregiver, Rose McGriff and her son, Michael; brothers, Michael “Butch” McGriff, Christopher “Chris” McGriff and a slew of nieces and nephews.

Memorial Services will be held 12:00 PM Saturday, June 22, 2019 at Ocean View Funeral Home Myrtle Beach Chapel. Visitation will be held one {1} hour prior to Services. Arrangements are entrusted to Ocean View Funeral Home Myrtle Beach Chapel.
