ELDER LEE A. OWENS (83) was born May 22, 1934 in North County, SC. He was the son of the late John K. Owens and Bessie McCray-Owens.

Elder Owens graduated from Whittemore High School in SC. He later joined the United States Army and served his country from 1957-1960 and was honorably discharged.

In 1960, Lee A. Owens was ordained as an Elder in 1961. He attended Trade School and worked at Sparrows Points for forty (40) years. He was joined in Holy Matrimony on August 05, 1978 to Louise Owens.

Elder Owens was Pastor of Gateway Church of Christ Disciples of Christ. He started preaching in his house a long time ago and his brothers and sisters were his members. If you were looking for Lee, he was always studying his Bible. His favorite songs were “Send It On Down,” “If You Live Right” and “He Rose.” His favorite scripture was ” I am that I am” Exodus 3:14 {God was talking to Moses}

On Sunday, December 10, 2017 he departed his life for his eternal home.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John K. Owens and Bessie McCray-Owens, two {2} brothers, Clarence L. Owens and James S. Owens, and one {1} son, Lee Owens. He is survived by his wife, Louise Owens; two {2} brothers, John {Beverly} K. Owens, Jr. and Arnold J. Owens of Miami, FL; three {3} sisters, Bernice {Sam} A. Walker, Rev. Peggie {Calvin} M. Bridges and Lillie A. Owens; three {3} sons, Cubby {Theresa}, Ralph and Arthur; four {4} daughters, Arlene, Rita, Denise and Ann; his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends to cherish his memories.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, December 16, 2017 at Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church in the Bucksport Community. Visitation will be held one {1} hour prior to Funeral Services at the Church. Arrangements are entrusted to Ocean View Funeral Home Conway Chapel.
