DEACON GEORGE VEREEN, SR. {71} son of the late Sam and Francis  Nichols-Vereen was born on December 22, 1946 in Galivants Ferry, SC. He entered into eternal on Friday, June 01, 2018 at his residence. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Mary Frances Wheeler, Carolyn Lesane, Joyce Vereen, David Vereen, Adam Vereen, Marion Vereen and Dorothy Vereen; his sister-in-law, Lillie Mae Vereen and a brother-in-law, Billy Tenny.

Deacon George attended the Horry County public schools and was a member of St. John Freewill Baptist Church where he served on the Deacon Board Trustee Board Chairman. He was employed by Horry County Schools, Georgia Pacific Corporation and a Community Handy Man.

Deacon George was a jack of all trades, if he could tear it apart it could be fixed. He loved helping everyone he could and they knew when he came to have his coffee ready.

He leaves to cherish precious memories a loving wife of forty-five {45} years, JoAnn Gowans-Vereen; three {3} daughters, Shay Vereen, Crystal {Chris} Vereen-Brantley and Patrice Vereen; two {2} sons, George {Delora} Vereen, Jr. and Georgy Brown; a Goddaughter, Megan Darby; adopted son, Eric {Tiffany} Gerald; a special niece, Laura McLaurin; three {3} of his sisters children he looked after, Diane {John} Floyd-Sumter, Ron {Amy} Lesane and Antonio Williams; two {2} brothers, Bishop Bobby {Bonita} Vereen and his twin brother, Willie Vereen; three {3} sisters, Naomi Tenny, Laura {JC} Morant and Nethra Godbolt; three {3} sister-in-laws,  Jennie Mae, Mildred McLaurin and Betty Davis; three {3} brother-in-laws, LD Gowans, Lenwood Gowans and Aubrey Gowans; last but not least the apple of his eyes, his grandbabies.

Visitation will be held 6:00 – 8:00 PM Sunday, June 03, 2018 at Ocean View Funeral Home Conway Chapel. Funeral Services will be held 1:00 PM, Monday June 04, 2018 at St. John Freewill Baptist Church.  Arrangements are entrusted to Ocean View Funeral Home Conway Chapel.
